LOGI 461 Technical Visit – Tesco Kipa

Yaşar Univerity, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, International Logistics Management Department students visited Tesco Kipa’s distribution center in Torbalı on November 16, 2015 in the framework of LOGI 461 City Logistics course. During the technical visit, students were informed by Tesco Kipa’s Turkey distribution systems and store feeding systems related distribution center’s general manager, operation manager, technical manager, security manager, and consignment manager. In the framework of this briefing, students had their questions regarding Tesco Kipa’s distribution chain’s different function’s co-operation answered. In the second part of the technical visit, students were guided by the Human Resources Department during their visits to dried food and non-food goods, fresh food, and frozen food warehouses as a part of their orientation.​ Employees demonstrated receiving orders, goods receiving, racking, collecting, shipping, and distribution steps. In the framework of the technical visit, students had the chance to observe how one of the world’s leading retail chains, Tesco Kipa, handles distribution of goods all around the country and solutions to the city logistics related problem faced.
